ดาวน์โหลด Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan) 2.2 จากไมโครซอฟท์

มีเวอร์ชันใหม่กว่าสำหรับโปรแกรมนี้: Remote Desktop Connection Manager 2.7

สำหรับแอดมินระบบ Windows ที่ต้องใช้งานรีโมทเดสก์ท็อป (Remote Desktop) ในการจัดการเซิร์ฟเวอร์หลายตัวพร้อมๆ กันเป็นประจำ (ผมเองก็เป็นหนึ่งในนั้น) คงจะทราบถึงปัญหาในการสลับไปมาระหว่างเซิร์ฟเวอร์แต่ละตัวเป็นอย่างดี เนื่องจากรีโมทเดสก์ท็อปแต่ละเซสชั่นจะทำงานอยู่กันคนละหน้าต่าง

วิธีการแก้ปัญหาที่กล่าวมาด้านบนทำได้โดยการใช้โปรแกรมจัดการรีโมทเดสก์ท็อปช่วยในการจัดการ ซึ่งมีโปรแกรมแบบฟรีแวร์ให้เลือกใช้งาน เช่น Remote Desktop Organizer หรือ Remote Desktop Manager และข่าวดีล่าสุดไมโครซอฟท์ (Microsoft) ได้ออกโปรแกรม Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan) 2.2 ให้ได้เลือกใช้งานเพิ่มขึ้นอีกหนึ่งตัว

RDCMan นั้นมีการทำงานคล้ายกับ Microsoft Management Console (MMC) ที่มาพร้อมกับ Windows Server 2008 และ R2 ช่วยให้ผู้ใช้วินโดวส์โดยเฉพาะแอดมินที่ต้องจัดการเซิร์ฟเวอร์หลายตัวพร้อมๆ กัน สามารถจัดการการใช้งานรีโมทเดสก์ท็อปพร้อมกันหลายเซสชั่นได้ในหน้าต่างเดียวทำให้การทำงานสะดวก รวดเร็วและง่ายขึ้น

การปรับปรุงใน RDCMan 2.2
ใน RDCMan 2.2 มีการปรับปรุงต่างๆ ดังนี้

• Added log off option. This requires appropriate permissions to manage sessions on the remote server.
• Added a feature to list remote sessions and provide limited management of them.
• Support for monitor spanning of full screen sessions.
• Show the source of inheritance when "Inherit from parent" is checked.
• Added connect to console setting to Connect As dialog.
• Added audio quality and audio capture redirection settings (supported by 6.1 remote desktop).
• Added "full screen" remote desktop size setting.
• Global settings are now auto saved if needed (previously only the files were auto saved).
• Name sorting is now similar to explorer where consecutive digits are treated as single numbers
• Added comment field to servers and groups
• Fixed redraw bugs when moving a server from one group to another.
• Fixed bug where groups wouldn't always sort when making changes.
• Fixed Connected group disconnect redraw bug.
• Fixed bug where client size wasn't maintained when server tree visibility was changed.
• Fixed a redraw bug involving "no effect" drag-and-drop.
• Fixed a bug where password changes weren't always saved.
• Fixed bug with not being able to exit if a document couldn't be saved during shutdown.
• Fixed a bug where files were not being auto saved when the auto save option was selected.
• Fixed remote desktop size bug for undocked servers.
• Added logic to not restore the saved window position if the window would not be visible, e.g. if a display is disconnected.
• Added a warning when attempting to add a server to a file without first adding a group.

หลังจากทำการทดลองใช้งานแล้วรู้สึกชื่นชอบโปรแกรม RDCMan อย่างมาก เนื่องจากช่วยเพิ่มความสะดวกในการใช้งานรีโมทเดสก์ท็อป สามารถแยกไฟล์คอนฟิก (.rdg) สามารถจัดกลุ่มของเซิร์ฟเวอร์ได้ และสามารถกำหนดการทำงานได้ครบถ้วนทุกๆ ด้าน แต่มีประเด็นเล็กๆ เรื่องการป้อนค่าชื่อเซิร์ฟเวอร์ซึ่งจะมีเพียงช่อง Server name โดยไม่มีช่อง IP Address เหมือนไมโครซอฟท์พยายามจะสื่อให้ผู้ใช้ป้อนเป็นชื่อเซิร์ฟเวอร์ แต่สามารถป้อนหมายเลขไอพี (IP Addrss) ได้ด้วยเช่นกัน นอกจากนี้ หากมีวิซาร์ดช่วยในการคอนฟิกจะดีมาก โดยเฉพาะกับผู้ใช้ระดับเริ่มต้น
