ผมทำการติดตั้ง VMware Server 2.0 บน Windows Server 2003 R2 SE SP2 ซึ่งเป็นเครื่องที่ติดตั้งใหม่โดยแผ่นลิขสิทธิถูกต้อง ปรากฏว่าเกิดข้อผิดพลาด "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" ดังรูปที่ 1 ด้านล่าง ทั้งๆ ที่ผมทำการล็อกออนด้วยแอคเคาทื Administrator จากนั้นผมก็ตรวจสอบ Local Security Policy ซึ่งก็ไม่พบว่ามีการตั้งนโยบายจำกัดการติดตั้งซอฟต์แวร์แต่อย่างใด

จากนั้นผมเข้าไปดูใน Event View ของเซิร์ฟเวอร์ ก็จะเกิด Event ID 1008 โดยที่ Source เป็น MsiInstaller ดังรูปที่ 2 ด้านล่าง

จึงทำการค้นหาบนอินเทอร์เน็ต ก็ไปเจอวิธีแก้ไขซึ่งผมลองทำตามดูแล้วปรากฏว่าได้ผล สามารถแก้ไขปัญหาได้จึงนำมาโพสต์เพื่อเป็นแนวทางสำหรับท่านอื่นๆ ครับ
การแก้ไขปัญหา
วิธีการแก้ไขปัญหาติดตั้ง VMware Server 2.0 บน Server 2003 R2 ไม่ได้โดยมีข้อความแสดงความผิดพลาดว่า "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" มีขั้นตอนดังนี้
1. คลิก Start คลิก Administrative Tools แล้วคลิก Local Security Policy
2. ในหน้าต่าง Local Security Settings ในด้านคอนโซลทรีให้คลิกขวาที่ Software Restriction Policies
แล้วคลิก New Software Restriction Policy
3. ในด้านดีเทลแพน ให้ดับเบิลคลิกที่ Enforcement
4. ในไดอะล็อกบ็อกซ์ Enforcement Properties ในหัวข้อ Apply Software Restriction Policies to the following users: ให้เลือกเป็น "All users except local administrators" เสร็จแล้วคลิก OK

5. ปิดหน้าต่าง Local Security Settings แล้วทำการรีสตาร์ทเครื่องหรือรันคำสั่ง gpupdate /force ที่คอมมานด์พร็อมท์
