มีการพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องสำหรับ TeamViewer โปรแกรมรีโมทเดสก์ทอป (Remote Desktop) แบบฟรีแวร์ โดยล่าสุดออก TeamViewer 5.0.7478 (วันที่ 8 ธันวาคม 2552) ให้ผู้สนใจดาวน์โหลดไปทดลองใช้งานได้แล้ว ซึ่งรองรับการทำงานบนระบบ Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 และ Windows Server 2008 นอกจากนี้มีเวอร์ชันสำหรับระบบปฏิบัติการ MAC OS X อีกด้วย
TeamViewer มีฟีเจอร์ให้ใช้งานหลากหลายและมีระบบความปลอดภัยที่เชื่อถือได้ โดยตัวโปรแกรมมีขนาดไม่ใหญ่จึงไม่เปลืองทรัพยากรระบบ สามารถใช้งานได้โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องติดตั้งโปรแกรมลงเครื่อง และมีทั้งเวอร์ชันที่สามารถใช้งานโดยไม่มีค่าใช้จ่าย (เวอร์ชัน Personal /Non-commercial use) และเวอร์ชันเชิงพาณิชย์ให้เลือกใช้งาน
TeamViewer เป็นโปรแกรม Remote Desktop แบบ One-Stop คือ นอกจากใช้งานในแบบ Remote Support ได้แล้ว ยังสามารถใช้งานในลักษณะ Remote presentation และ Remote administration ได้อีกด้วย จึงสามารถทำการแชร์ภาพหน้าจอ (Screen-sharing) และถ่ายโอนไฟล์ (File-transfer) เพื่อทำงานร่วมกัน (Collaborations) ได้อย่างยอดเยี่ยม และฟีเจอร์ที่เด่นอีกอย่างหนึ่งคือสามารถใช้งานผ่านทางอินเทอร์เน็ตโดยที่ไม่ต้องทำการคอนฟิกไฟร์วอลล์ (Firewall) ใหม่ โดยในเวอร์ชัน 5.x นี้รองรับการสนทนาแบบ VoIP ได้ ท่านใดสนใจก็สามารถดาวน์โหลดได้ตามรายละเอียดด้านล่าง
