ไมโครซอฟท์เปิดให้ผู้สนใจดาวน์โหลด Internet Explorer 9 Beta (IE9 Beta) ซึ่งเป็นบราวเซอร์ตัวเต็มที่สามารถใช้งานได้จริงและมีฟีเจอร์ต่างๆ ครบถ้วน เช่น Address Bar ปุ่ม Back และ Forward เป็นต้น ซึ่งจะแตกต่างจากเวอร์ชัน Platform Preview ที่เปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดไปก่อนหน้านี้ซึ่งจะเป็นเพียงเฟรมของตัวบราวเซอร์เท่านั้น โดย Internet Explorer 9 จะใช้เอ็นจิน JavaScript ตัวใหม่ที่ใช้โค้ดเนมว่า Chakra และมีฟังก์ชัน HMLT5 Hardware Acceleration ที่ทรงพลังสำหรับการแสดงผลทั้งด้านกราฟิก ตัวอักษร และสื่อรูปแบบต่างๆ ซึ่งไมโครซอฟท์ได้ประกาศว่า Internet Explorer 9 เป็นเว็บบราวเซอร์ตัวแรกและตัวเดียวที่รองรับ Hardware Acceleration อย่างเต็มรูปแบบ โดยมีหมายเลขเวอร์ชันเป็น 9.0.7930.16406
สำหรับ IE9 Beta ที่เปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดในครั้งนี้จะมีทั้งหมด 4 เวอร์ชันด้วยกัน ได้แก่ เวอร์ชันสำหรับ Windows 7, Windows Vista และ Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista 64-bit และ Windows Server 2008 64-bit และ Windows 7 64-bit และ Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit โดยที่ไม่มีเวอร์ชันสำหรับ Windows XP แต่อย่างใด ทั้งนี้สามารถดาวน์โหลดมาทดลองใช้งานได้จากเว็บไซต์ดังต่อไปนี้
