ปัจจุบันโปรแกรม Portable นั้นได้รับความนิยมมากขึ้นเพราะมีความสะดวกต่อการใช้งาน เนื่องจากไม่จำเป็นต้องทำการติดตั้งลงบนเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และยังสามารถที่จะเก็บโปรแกรมแบบ Portable ไว้ในแฟลชไดรฟ์เพื่อพกพาไปใช้งานบนคอมพิวเตอร์เครื่องต่างๆ ได้อีกด้วย

สำหรับ PortableApps.com Suite นั้นเป็นการรวบรวมโปรแกรม Portable ที่พัฒนาโดยทีมงาน PortableApps.com ซึ่งมีอยู่หลายโปรแกรมและครอบคลุมตั้งแต่โปรแกรมสำหรับใช้งานอินเทอร์เน็ต โปรแกรมสร้างและแก้ไขเอกสาร โปรแกรมป้องกันไวรัส โปรแกรมเล่นเพลง จนถึงโปรแกรมเกม ตัวอย่างโปรแกรมที่รู้จักกันดีเช่น Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Sunbird และรวมถึงชุดโปรแกรม OpenOffice.org เป็นต้น

ชุดโปรแกรม PortableApps.com Suite
PortableApps.com Suite เป็นชุดซอฟต์แวร์ซึ่งรวบรวมโปรแกรมแบบ Portable ที่ได้รับความนิยมใช้งาน โดยจะมีโปรแกรมประเภทต่างๆ ดังนี้ Web browser, Email client, Office suite, Calendar/scheduler, Instant messaging client, Antivirus, Audio player, Game, Password manager, PDF reader และ Notes ซึ่งเวอร์ชันปัจจุบัน (28 ก.ค. 53) คือ PortableApps.com Suite 1.6.1

PortableApps.com Suite มีให้เลือกใช้งาน 3 เวอร์ชันด้วยกัน คือ เวอร์ชัน Platform Only เวอร์ชัน Suite Light และเวอร์ชัน Suite Standard ซึ่งแต่ละเวอร์ชันจะแตกต่างกันที่จำนวนโปรแกรมที่มีให้ใช้งานตามรายละเอียดด้านล่าง

การติดตั้งและใช้งาน PortableApps.com Suite
PortableApps.com Suite สามารถติดตั้งได้ทั้งบนฮาร์ดดิสก์ในเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และในไดรฟ์เก็บข้อมูลแบบพกพา (ขนาดความจุดต้องเหมาะสมกับเวอร์ชันที่ใช้) โดยหลังจากดาวน์โหลดเสร็จแล้วให้ทำการติดตั้งโดยการดับเบิลคลิกที่ไฟล์ซึ่งได้จากการดาวนโหลด (ไฟล์ของเวอร์ชันปัจจุบันชื่อ PortableApps.com_Suite_Setup_1.6.1.exe) หลังจากการติดตั้งแล้วเสร็จ ให้ดับเบิลคลิกที่ไฟล์ StartPortableApps.exe ซึ่งจะอยู่ในรูทของไดรฟ์ที่ทำการติดตั้ง (ไดรฟ์ที่อยู่ในเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์หรือไดรฟ์เก็บข้อมูลแบบพกพา ) จากนั้นก็เลือกเปิดโปรแกรมที่ต้องการจาก PortableApps.com Menu

หมายเหตุ: เพื่อความสะดวกในการการใช้งาน แนะนำให้ติดตั้ง PortableApps.com Suite ในรูทของไดรฟ์อุปกรณ์เก็บข้อมูลแบบพกพา เช่น K:\ เป็นต้น
