ไมโครซอฟท์ได้ออกเครื่องมือ Windows NT Backup Restore Utility สำหรับ Windows 7 และ Windows Server 2008 R2 เวอร์ชันใหม่ เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาการรีสโตร์ (Restore) ข้อมูลที่ได้มาจากการแบ็คอัพ (Backup) บน Windows XP และ Windows Server 2003 ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้ผู้ใช้ Windows 7 และ Windows Server 2008 R2 จะไม่สามารถใช้ Windows NT Backup Restore Utility ในการรีสโตร์ข้อมูลดังกล่าวได้

อนึ่ง Windows 7 หรือ Windows Server 2008 R2 นั้นจะไม่มีฟังก์ชัน Removable Storage Manager (RSM) ดังนั้นถ้าต้องการรีสโตร์ข้อมูลจากเทป (Tape) ผู้ใช้จะต้องดำเนินการบนระบบปฏิบัติการดังต่อไปนี้
• Windows XP
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Vista
• Windows Server 2008

ผู้ใช้ Windows 7 และ Windows Server 2008 R2 สามารถดาวน์โหลดเครื่องมือ Windows NT Backup Restore Utility ตามเวอร์ชันของระบบปฏิบัติการ ได้จากเว็บไซต์ดังต่อไปนี้
